Internal Affairs Agent |
Access: Internal Affairs Office Difficulty: Medium to Hard Supervisors: Captain and Centcom Duties: Ensure compliance of Standard Operating Procedure, investigate departments. Guides: Corporate Regulations, Standard Operating Procedure, Guide to Paperwork, Chain of Command |
Job Description
Your job isn't to be a Security Officer with a clipboard and a fancy office. Despite being listed under Security the only thing you keep secure is Nanotrasen's precious regulations. That being said you should monitor security and make sure they are in compliance with Corporate Regulations. This job can be fairly lax most of the time, and mainly focuses on paperwork, but you are required to know a lot.
- Observe: Take notes on your fancy clipboard as you stare ominously from the corner, and cause nearby workers to be a little stressed, and maybe even work harder!
- Remain Unbiased: This job is not a way to take out your in-chararacter, or even worse out-of-character, grudges on people. Stick to the facts, and follow regulations.
- Keep a Good Rapport: Your words carry almost no weight if everybody hates you. Try and build a good relationship with the various departments, and you may not even have to escalate to superiors.
- Be Diligent: You are implanted with a loyalty implant at the start of your shift, and as such, you should be committed to upholding Nanotrasen regulations to the best of your ability.
What Not to Do
- Don't Ignore the Colony Director: Unless you are absolutely certain they have majorly broken regulations, in which case you can report them to Centcom, the Captain is your boss. If you always fax directly to Centcom instead of them, or just generally don't respect them don't be surprised when you
get eatenget fired by them. - Don't Threaten People: You are given a flash to be used solely for self defense, but under no circumstances should you be threatening crew with violence or punishment. If a crew member is breaking procedure just file the correct paperwork to the Captain, or Centcom if it is severe enough, and they will be the ones to deal with the issue.
- Don't Forget to Communicate: You have access to Security and Command communications, and you should stay updated with them on the radio. If Security wants advice on sentencing or procedure you can offer it, and likewise for Command. Furthermore you should be contacting Command if you are going to be writing a report. If the issue is serious enough you can still report it to Centcom, but Command should know first.
- Don't Forget to Read: Internal Affairs Agent is best played by someone who is well versed in Corporate Regulations, Standard Operating Procedure, and to a lesser extent Chain of Command. If you are knowledgeable in them people will actively seek you for advise, but if you are not you will probably look like a dummy.
Investigations
While an IAA can be a passive occupation one of your important job duties is launching yourself in to the guts of annoyed department heads successful investigations. Your job is not to nitpick problems that are really non-issues, although you can play an agent as a bit snobbish, but instead to identify genuine issues of breakings in procedure and report them to respective Command.
The following is a general list of what to do during an investigation.
- If you are have no reason to suspect any one department of breaking regulation simply wander the station and inspect them individually. It is suggested you read Guide to Paperwork to get a sense of how to make a cool looking report on all the departments
that nobody will ever read.Once it is done you can stamp with your super cool IAA stampif it wasn't stolenand fax it to relevant Command. Even if you have only positive things to say that's still valuable.Although knowing this server that sounds unlikely. - Collect evidence. Whether it be testimony from interrogations you conduct, contraband (although that should be stored in Security not your office), or photo evidence. Without evidence to back up your claims you will look unjustified, and have no grounds to make reports even if your claims are genuine.
- Stick to the facts. You're not meant to be making judgements on your own, and instead should be focused on providing hard evidence on broken regulations so fixes can be made. While you can include your opinion on what could be done it is ultimately up to Command to take action.
- If you do find something that violates regulations try and follow the Chain of Command. Start with the department head. If they don't comply move to the Colony Director, and if the appropriate changes are still not being made only then contact Centcom.
Equipment
Your office has a number of tools that can help your job. In addition to being fully outfitted with the standard array of office supplies such as a fax, photocopier, and paper shredder you also have access to check employee records on your PCU. As for gear you have the following:
- Briefcase - Carries stuff in style.
Doesn't fit on your back slot so will go unused. - Secure Briefcase - Good for carrying evidence.
- Flash - For self defense only
, oh and predding people in your office. - Universal Recorder - For collecting logs on interrogations that you can attach to reports as evidence.
Useless most of the time because you realize it wasn't on, or that it can't translate other languages, or you just forgot it existed. - Camera - The world's shittiest camera. Still shitty photo evidence is better than nothing!
- Sunglasses - So you can block out the massive amount of regulation breaches in front of you, and therefore prevent your loyalty implant forcing you to actually do anything.
- Suits - A variety of stylish garbs that will make you look the part of a servile Nanotrasen employee.
Vore
If you're looking to put the 'Internal' in 'Internal Affairs Agent' you have plenty of tools at your disposal. You have a private office with a window tint, and plenty of ways to lure people there based on filling out paperwork. If you're a pred you can use your flash to try and subdue prey and get eaten instead when you realize they had sunglasses on, or as prey you can annoy people with paperwork to get them to eat you. Just make sure you're not being too annoying.
