Protean

Biology

Proteans are made up of swarms of nanites and are capable of shapeshifting into any form they want, but when around other sapient non-proteans, they often take the form of humanoids or other familiar species. Their origins are older than that of SolGov's.

NT relations

NanoTrasen takes great interest in the proteans as they are an advanced form of intelligence and superior piece of technology. As the processing power and memory of even the tiniest NT machine is unable to match that of a single nanite from the swarm, they have been unable to copy it. While some have proposed advance plans of transferring minds into protean-like bodies, this has so far never been done and therefore no copies or "sleeves" for people exist.

• Cannot eat other types of metal
• Cannot vent crawl
• Can transform into a personal RIG suit
• Cannot be resleeved. If one should die, they require external help to revive. Examining one will tell you which step is next.
